Special Ed

My name is Latisha Keeffe, and I love working at Vernon Elementary School! I am a Vernon native and attended VES as a 6th grader in Ms. Cooper's class. My passion is working to make all students authentically included in the school environment and active/engaged participants in their learning.

Fun Facts about Ms. Keeffe

  • I was raised by my loving grandparents.

  • I have a beautiful, smart, and sassy German Shepherd named Grace.

  • I was married in June 2019. Before that I was known as Ms. Akley (I still have some student hold outs to my name change)

  • I have two bachelor’s degrees through Keene State College in:

    • Elementary/Special Education

      • I hold a General Education teacher license grades K-6 and a Special Education teacher license grades K-21

    • English

  • I have my master’s degree, through Ball State University, in Elementary and Middle School Mathematics.

  • I am married to Cory Keeffe who is an Arborist/Forester and has a strong passion for tree identification, identifying dying/dead trees, and teaching others all he knows about trees.

  • Mr. Keeffe and I enjoy reading, festivals, concerts, traveling, all obscure board games, animals, and hikes with our Graciebear.

  • I LOVE learning and am currently looking for my next certificate program (probably Special Education Administration).

Please feel free to pop by my room any time to say hey or to ask me anything- my door is always open!
