Music

Music at Vernon Elementary School

I work hard to instill a lifelong love of music in all my students.  Students sing; learn to read music; play drums and xylophones; dance, learn music of different genres like jazz, broadway and music from around the world, compose; analyze music-high/low, fast/slow, identify instruments, decipher dynamics; 4th-6th grade students learn guitar and piano; and much, much more.

About Me

My name is Joyana Damon.  I started teaching music in 1998 and began teaching in Vernon in 1999. Outside of school I love playing my trumpet in various ensembles, singing at area Pub Sings, attending a wide variety of concerts from Dropkick Murphy’s to The Jazz at Lincoln Center Wynton Marsalis to The Longest Johns, going for walks and spending time with my husband, Steve (music teacher in Guilford), and our son, Isaac (currently attending UVM).
