This is our school-wide container to collect the tokens every child in the building can earn from any adult in the building for following our school-wide expectations of being respectful, kind, safe and responsible. Although students earn these tokens for individual acts of good citizenship, they place them in a classroom collection jar and when that jar is filled, have a small celebration as a whole class. This fosters a sense of community and working towards common goals. Once the classroom jar is filled, it is emptied into this school container which, when full, will be the occasion for a school-wide celebration, again reinforcing a sense of community and our commitment to have Vernon Elementary School be a place where children feel valued, visible and welcome. It is in these environments that we all flourish and grow.
VES TOKEN PROTOCOL
Tokens should be given ANYWHERE a student is recognized following school-wide expectations, but collected in the respective classroom container
Tokens are to be given out ONLY by adults and cannot be requested by students
Paw tokens are earned individually but collected for the group
Tokens can NEVER be taken away once earned
Once a classroom container is full, a classroom celebration occurs for the class being positive supportive members of their community
The classroom container is emptied into the school-wide container and the process repeats itself
Once the school container is full, a school-wide celebration occurs, regardless of the level of individual classroom containers
Classroom teachers should aim for a minimum of 50 tokens given out each day
