August 2009
Dear Vernon Elementary School Families: Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at Vernon Elementary School. The entire VES staff is excited to be working with the families of this wonderful Vernon Elementary School community. As a staff we are committed to providing a quality education for all students as well as ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment.
Vernon Elementary School is a member of the Windham Southeast Supervisory Union, serving schools in the southeast corner of Windham County, Vermont. The WSESU mission is to develop students capable of thoughtful engagement in their own civic, economic, and personal development, who will be successful members of society.
The Family Handbook is a valuable source of information for the various operations here at VES. We recommend that both parents and students take the time to read this handbook together. The contents of this handbook will be helpful to you in understanding the daily functions of VES.
At Vernon Elementary School we value the importance of our relationship with families and welcome open communication between the home and the school. We encourage you to become involved with Vernon Elementary School and welcome you to visit and ask questions about your child’s progress.
The efforts of our parent group, the VES-PTC Spirit Club, help to provide many different activities throughout the school year. We encourage volunteers and invite you to contact classroom teachers, the school nurse, or the guidance counselor if interested. We hope you have had a great summer and are ready for all of the exciting opportunities that will be in store for the 2009-2010 school year.
Sincerely, Mark V. Speno Principal
